In Loving Memory of Richard Barratt ❤️

In April 2025, we lost a wonderful friend and neighbour — Richard Barratt — far too soon and completely unexpectedly. Rich was the kind of person who never thought about himself; he was always putting others first, offering a helping hand, a kind word, or a laugh just when you needed it most. He especially loved a late night boogie on our dining room chairs to a bit of Take That! His remarkable character left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

To honour his memory, support a cause that means so much, and do anything we can to show up for our close friends who have lost a special father and husband, Elliot will be running the Backyard Ultra in May 2026 to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.

The British Heart Foundation funds vital research into heart and circulatory diseases — work that saves lives every day and helps families avoid the heartbreak that Richard’s and so many others have experienced.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward supporting their mission to prevent heartbreak and help those living with heart conditions.

The Backyard Ultra is a 4.2 mile loop every hour, on the hour with a 10KG weighted vest. It’s a “last man standing” race, facing intense endurance for hours and hours on end, until it reaches its final runner.
