Story
This June, I’ll be swimming, cycling and running around the scenic grounds of Blenheim Palace to fundraise for a charity that means a lot to me: Insulinoma Charity UK, founded recently by my amazing and inspirational mum, Enola Wright.
A few years ago, my mum was diagnosed with insulinoma - a rare pancreatic tumour that causes the body to produce too much insulin, which in turn leads to dangerously low blood sugar levels (hypoglycaemia). For a long time, her symptoms were misdiagnosed or misunderstood. It was a scary and traumatic ordeal but after years of persistence and strength, my mum survived.
Rather than simply moving on, she chose to turn her experience into action and created a network to share information and connect others facing insulinoma. What began as a small community quickly grew, highlighting just how many people were struggling with this rare condition and seeking support. This eventually led to my mum founding Insulinoma Charity UK in 2023. Its mission is to raise awareness, provide support to others going through the same ordeal, and improve diagnosis and treatment pathways.
I’m proud to be supporting my mum's work by taking on my first (and probably only to be honest!) triathlon. Every donation will go directly to helping my mum establish this new charity, to help people navigate life with insulinoma, and ensure they have access to the support and information they need.
Thank you so much for your support.
