Ellisons's fundraiser for The Tom Bowdidge Foundation

Ellisons Legal LLP is raising money for The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation

Team: Ellisons Solicitors

At the Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation, our mission is to bring comfort, care, and hope to young people living with cancer and their families. Inspired by Tom’s vision and courage, we are dedicated to addressing not only the medical challenges of cancer but also the emotional, practical, and social struggles that come with it. We believe every young person deserves dignity, support, and the chance to thrive, no matter their diagnosis. That is why we provide essential resources, such as Tom’s Comfort and Care Kits, to ease long days in hospital, alongside emotional and practical support that helps families feel less alone in their journey. We strive to create an environment where young people are seen, heard, and understood, ensuring that their unique needs are met with compassion and respect. Our mission extends beyond the hospital walls. We are committed to funding vital research into teenage cancers, raising awareness, and campaigning for change so that young patients receive the specialist care they deserve. By working closely with hospitals, schools, and communities, we aim to bridge the gaps in support and ensure that no young person has to face cancer without help. Driven by Tom’s legacy, we stand with determination, kindness, and hope, empowering young people with cancer to face the future with strength, comfort, and courage.

Story

The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation was founded in 2014 in Tom’s memory.

Tom died of a Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour and extensive peritoneal disease in October 2013, at the age of 19.

Tom knew there were many things that needed to be done for teenagers and young adults who were facing cancer. He discussed this with Richard and Nikki and planned to set up his own charity. Sadly, he died too soon but following Tom’s wishes, they knew exactly what they needed to focus on.

The Foundation has raised over £1.8 million to date . Tom would be so proud.

The money has created 8 rooms and age-appropriate spaces across the country.

£500,000 has been spent on funding a research project looking into targeted treatments for teenage cancers.

More than £285,000 has helped provide support for families and young people, aged 13-24 years, with everyday essentials like, travel and parking costs, food, heating, I-Pads, laptops, wigs and clothes to making memories.
