Story
Hi friend,
As you know given you're here, I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 12 October 2025 and am very proud to be running and raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
My own experience of dementia comes from seeing my grandma Vi and granny Elaine live with dementia for the majority of my childhood. I have seen firsthand how dementia impacts entire families and what it takes away from them. It is a scary thing and horrific for both the people suffering from it, and the people who love them.
Dementia is very common. Currently, there are almost 1 million people in the UK who have dementia. If nothing changes, 1 in 2 of us will be directly impacted by dementia either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or, tragically, both.
Alzheimer’s Research is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. They are striving for a cure, by revolutionising the way we treat, diagnose and prevent dementia. With new drugs showing promising potential in clinical trials, dementia research is at a tipping point right now. Alzheimer’s Research are doing great work to bring about a world free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
I would be very grateful if you could donate to my page. Every donation (whatever the amount) is so appreciated.
All the best,
Elly
