The team on Elm C are raising money to support the Healing Arts Program at North Cumbria Integrated Care. Healing Arts is the Trust’s arts programme delivering projects to support the health and well-being of patients, staff & families in Cumbria. We know the importance and positive impact of art and being creative on our well-being and mental health and through a wonderful creative spectrum of art, music and dance Healing Arts will do just that - bring about positivity through creativity!

As medical science advances, it is easy to be drawn into seeing treatment of disease as the main goal. Everyone involved in caring for patients can benefit from pausing occasionally to ask “What are we healing for?” Quality of life is surely the most important goal and, viewed in this light, the arts have a fundamental role in healthcare. The arts can remind us of those things in our life that are truly important or allow us time and space to reflect on the multitude of roles that life demands of us all.

Elm C specialises in the care of those living with dementia or experiencing delirium and we see first hand the fantastic work that healing arts does and the benefits it has to our patients.

Healing arts are looking to raise £6000 which will run the project for 8 months across both the Cumberland Infirmary and also West Cumberland Hospital.

As a team we are doing a sponsored 14 mile walk around Carlisle on the evening of the 29th November as well as a raffle. Any donations at all are appreciated and we hope we can make a huge impact for our patients.
