Story
For as long as I can remember, I have lived with back pain, often dismissed by doctors who attributed it to bad posture. After countless visits to physiotherapists, it wasn't until I turned 18 that a physiotherapist finally recognized the curve in my spine. This led to an X-ray and a diagnosis of scoliosis. Despite this revelation, I felt lost and without a clear action plan. I was told I was too old for any intervention, leaving me in the dark and struggling with daily pain.
When I learned about the opportunity to raise awareness for scoliosis through the "Walk Together - Oxford 10k" event on June 14, 2026, I knew I had to participate. Scoliosis is often overlooked; many people may not even realize they have it or understand its implications. For some, it may seem insignificant, but it can lead to serious complications—like my own experience with costochondritis.
This walk represents more than just a personal challenge; it's a chance to shed light on a condition that affects so many lives. By supporting my journey and contributing towards my target of £1,500 for "Scoliosis Support and Research", you are helping ensure that others receive the recognition and assistance they need at the right time. Together, we can make a difference and bring awareness to this important cause. Myself and my partner Jay will be taking part to push forward the importance of gaining more recognition for this condition.
