Hi, my name is Ellie, and I have always stood by the phrase, “I don’t run.” Connollys don’t run. I wouldn’t run for a bus, a train, or even if I were being chased by a pack of lions. Yet, here I am, running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Sounds out of character, right?

What will get me through is knowing that I will be running to raise funds for Compassionate Friends UK, who have provided invaluable support to the family of a very special friend.

Compassionate Friends exists to make a difference by offering support, understanding, empathy, and hope to bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents who have experienced the death of a child of any age and from any cause.

Grief is something we all face in different ways, but it can be an incredibly isolating and lonely experience, with the immeasurable loss becoming a weight that many are forced to carry.

I truly hope that any funds I am able to raise will help more families receive the support and compassion they need most and make that weight a little lighter.

Sending love, empathy and compassion to all those who are faced with living without someone they love – they are never forgotten.

The Compassionate Friends supports parents grieving the loss of a child of any age. Using peer to peer support we offer a helpline, support groups nationwide and retreats for those whose child has died by any cause. We also support adult brothers and sisters who are left behind.
