Story
This April I will be running the London Marathon!
Growing up I have never been a runner and never thought I would ever voluntarily go on a run. However over the past few years I found that running is something that I very much enjoy and am so excited for this challenge. After watching my dad run the London Marathon in 2009, it has been a goal of mine and now I have the opportunity to do it and I can't wait. Not only will this be a personal challenge, I have decided to fundraise for the charity Hernia International Carpenter. I'm hoping my efforts of dragging myself 26 miles around London will help support them and encourage any donations to this special charity.
This charity was set up by my amazing mum and dad, following the work that they have been doing in the region of Northern Ghana for over 14 years. Hernia International Carpenter is a charity that provides healthcare, specifically Hernia surgery, to the people of Carpenter and other nearby villages in rural Northern Ghana where accessibility to healthcare is limited. Over the past 10 years the main goal was to build a hospital in this region and in partnership with the charities GRID and NEA, and the Leyatta Hospital was built in 2022. Now, Hernia International Carpenter, works with doctors and nurses working in Leyatta Hospital to support and educate, ensuring this hospital is sustainable and can meet the needs of the local population now and in the future.
I am very proud of the work of the charity and excited to be able to help fundraise in order for the charity to continue this vital work.
So, thank you very much for any donations to this special charity and I'll see you at the finish line!
