Mount Kilimanjaro · 24 November 2023

It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months. That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.

Story

In honor of my wife's milestone 40th birthday this year, we've set our sights on conquering the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro this coming November 2023.

We're seizing this momentous occasion to fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer UK, paying tribute to my dear cousin, Harry-Krish Mootoosamy. Tragically, we lost Harry in 2014 when he was just 39, leaving behind his loving wife and three precious children.

This July, I turned 39. Reflecting on reaching the age at which Harry left us, and thinking of my own three children, the weight of his family's loss feels even more profound. Now feels like the perfect moment to honor Harry's legacy and amplify awareness of Pancreatic Cancer among my colleagues, friends, and loved ones.

Regarding our journey, we've chosen the 7-day Marangu Route, starting and concluding in Moshi. While I'm no stranger to treks, having conquered Mont Blanc in 2014 and Machu Picchu in 2007, I'm taking no chances. I've teamed up with Ed Djafer (https://www.linkedin.com/in/eddjafer/), who has expertly crafted my training and nutrition regimen to ensure I'm in peak condition!

Your contribution, no matter how modest, would mean the world to us as we aim to reach our fundraising goal of £1,000.

With heartfelt thanks,

Elvin Mootoosamy
