Story
On August 12th this year, our very own superhero Imogene will be taking part in a triatholon at Dorney Lake, Windsor. With the help of her Mummy, Daddy, big sister Sofia and good friends Laura and Duncan, Imogene will complete a 750m swim, 20k bike and 5k run. Our little team would like to raise as much money for The Movement Centre, a charity very close so our hearts.
We have been involved with The Movement Centre since 2013. The charity’s mission is to maximise the potential of children’s movement control through Targeted training. This has been invaluable for Imogene.
Imogene has an rare genetic neurological disorder that has affected her movement since birth. During her pre school years Imogene was supplied with a bespoke standing frame through which she was able to complete a course of targeted training. The level of support on the frame over the years was reduced from chest height all the way down to her knees as Imogene became stronger. This undoubtedly helped Imogene gain essential functional skills and she she became far more independent. As Imogene started school we were able to return the standing frame and Imogene continued to excel. Over the years Imogene has grown to love swimming, playing the piano and most of all dancing!
Recently we have seen some changes in Imogenes condition. It has not been an easy time for Imogene but as ever she is determined to get back on her feet. With support from The Movement Centre Imogene has been given another standing frame (quite a lot bigger now she is 12)! Through another course of Targeted Training we are confident that Imogene will regain skills to enable her to dance again!
We would be so grateful if you could donate to The Movement Centre to help children like Imogene gain essential functional skills that can, and do completely change their lives forever!
