Story

I am choosing to run in honour of my beautiful mum Melanie McGee. Mum was so special, she had this indescribable energy that could be felt when she was in a room. She was the most positive, courageous and intelligent woman i’ve ever come across. She had so much light inside of her and lived life without regrets, always ready to welcome on a new challenge ahead. She’s a huge inspiration to all, and everything I want to be.

Sadly in February of 2022 she peacefully passed away in St Michaels Hospice after a short, but tough battle with CJD- an extremely rare brain disease. Taken too soon at the age of 51. This left us all in a state of complete shock as the healthy, radiant Mel we all knew and loved, declined rapidly without any reason as to why.

2 years later we are finally starting to come to terms with this huge loss and create fun, new memories as a family of 4, whilst also running a business together in town. Exercise has been a great coping mechanism for me and my dad through it all, we enjoy going to the gym together and pushing each other to our best potential. So I have chosen to challenge myself and run this half marathon for mum, I know she would be so proud and will be by my side the whole way.

Any donation at all is appreciated💕
