Story
I'm back. I’ve done lots of different events over the years, each time trying to inspire and motivate you to part with your cold hard earned cash (or digital version thereof). My last fundraiser was in 2022 and now, four years later I'm trying to motivate you again to support me and the Jane Tomlinson Appeal.
I have been fundraising for The Jane Tomlinson Appeal since 2008 when I ran the London Marathon after reading Jane's book "The Luxury of Time". Jane Tomlinson was an 'ordinary' woman who achieved extraordinary things and her memory continues to be an inspiration for me. Her legacy, through her Appeal, has four key focuses:
* Caring for bereaved children - Supporting children and their families through one of the toughest times of their lives
* Kinesio Taping - Helping people with cancer access potentially life-enhancing non-drug therapy
* Children's health and well-being - Improving the mental and physical well-being of children in disadvantaged areas
* Funding cancer research - The Appeal supports pioneering research into how cancer spreads (metastasis).
This year - in September - I am planning to attempt an ultramathon. This will be 50K ... imagine running a marathon...and then running another 10K. Or 10 parkruns...
That event itself will be tough...but so will be the training and I hope some of this list of my anticipated events in the training plan will also help encourage you to give what you can. I'll be doing:
1 x 10K (Run For All Leeds on Sunday 14th June)
2 x half marathons (Great West Run, Harlyn Half)
1 x 15 miles (Bath to Bristol 25km on Sunday 19th April)
1 x 21 miles (Solstice Memorial Run)
2 x Marathon (Two Tunnels in August, City to Sea in September)
And just to really trash my legs I'm throwing in a 50K cycle in June (Otter Spotter Audax in Devon)...and the Gladiator Experience in May!
Anything you can give will be appreciated. However small or big. There’s no judgement here, just huge thanks.
