Story
This April, we will be raising money for the tens of thousands of people who are persecuted, silenced, tortured or forced to flee their country- simply for standing up for what's right.
We'll be hiking the 22-mile Edale Skyline in the Peak District in just one day (10-11 hours of trekking). It's a physically demanding challenge, and while it's nothing compared to the unimaginable journeys refugees and prisoners of conscience might be forced to take, we hope it will raise awareness of their struggle.
Many are forced to leave behind everything they know, facing hardship and uncertainty because they dared to defend our rights and freedoms.
We believe that no one should have to risk their lives to protect human rights. They shouldn’t be forced into poverty or torn apart from their families and children. That's why we are pushing ourselves with this challenge - to stand in solidarity with those who have no choice but to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult the path ahead.
Thank you for supporting our challenge! In the words of Catherine, a Ugandan prisoner of conscience supported by the kindness of supporters like yourself:
Please extend my thanks to everyone. It is great there are people that care so deeply for defenders like us who are facing very hard times. Thank you very much for your extremely generous donation to me and my family.'
