The three of us are taking on the challenge of the Delamere Half Marathon on the 3rd November 2024 to raise money for Platform for Life - a mental health charity based in Chester.

Platform for Life is a local charity to Chester whose aim is to provide individuals and families with free mental health support in the form of talking and play therapy.

Platform for Life is a dedicated charity and one that I am particularly passionate about. As a support worker, I have seen firsthand the difference that the counsellors can make, specifically to the young people living in supported accommodation at Bridge Foyer, Chester.

The dedicated counsellors provide weekly, one-to-one sessions with the Young People, giving them a safe space to talk, offload and really be heard. This regular, person-centred support is something that a lot of the young people at Bridge Foyer have never had access to before, and is invaluable in supporting their mental health and is a part of the puzzle in helping them move forward in their journey.

On a personal level, each of us have navigated challenges with our own mental health and we know how important it is having someone trustworthy to talk to during these dark times. That's why Platform for Life is so invaluable to our community, to be a sounding board and someone to help navigate negative emotions for those who need it.
