My Strong Woman Challenge Fundraising Bio

Thank you for visiting my page. ❤️

I am raising money for the British Heart Foundation, and I would be extremely grateful for your support. The BHF has already helped to halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK, but sadly hundreds of people still lose their lives every single day.

This cause is especially important to me. A very close member of my family underwent surgery and is now recovering from atrial fibrillation, which has shown me first-hand the vital impact of the British Heart Foundation’s work. In my role within social care, I also hear many stories from people living with heart conditions, and I see how greatly these conditions affect their lives and the lives of those around them.

On a personal note, I have recently been through (PAO) hip surgery . Due to hip dysplasia, my knee cartilage has also worn down, and I have gained a considerable amount of weight during recovery. I was recently advised by a knee professor to lose weight, as it will help take pressure off my joints — another reason why I’m determined to keep going with this challenge. I’ve also been reassured that these exercises will help strengthen my hips and knees, though some movements need to be modified to suit my limitations.

I began the Strong Woman Challenge on 1st September to test how my mobility would cope, and I’m delighted to say things are going well. Although the official challenge lasts one month, I’ve decided to continue until Christmas Eve. Alongside the daily challenge, I’ll be keeping up with my gym routine (three sessions a week, plus circuits, boxing, and the occasional swim to reduce swelling), as well as following my physiotherapy plan with Physio Resolutions. Saturdays will be my rest day.

My personal goal is to feel strong, healthy, and confident enough to fit back into one of my Christmas party dresses — and to finally take my pre-op clothes out of storage! Achieving this will make the journey even more meaningful.

Thank you so much for your kindness, encouragement, and support — it means the world.
