The world feels a little scary right now. Sadly, I don’t have a magic wand to fix it, but I do have a pair of running shoes and the blissful ignorance that my almost-42-year-old knees are up for a challenge.

On 24 May 2026, I’ll be running the EMF Half Marathon, on behalf of Showcase Edinburgh (SCC017963), to raise much-needed funds for Macmillan, a charity that so many people rely on.

I know everything feels painfully expensive right now (because… gestures at the world), but if you’d normally buy me a pint or a coffee, maybe consider chucking a fiver towards Macmillan instead.

Impact of my target £300 donation

Fund Nursing Care: It covers the cost of a Macmillan nurse for roughly 10-12 hours.

Grants for Patients: Roughly equivalent to providing a one-off £350 grant to a person with cancer for urgent expenses.

Direct Support: Helps provide specialist information and support for those diagnosed with cancer.

The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, and every one of them needs the best support to meet their unique needs.
