Story

Late last year, our dad received a diagnosis of metastatic prostate cancer. Since his diagnosis, he has been spreading awareness about prostate cancer, which he hopes will encourage men to get checked themselves and prevent a similar outcome. As a family we want to join our Dad in spreading awareness, and raise money along the way. Dad has said he wants the money we raise to be donated to St Barnabas hospice, our local hospice which provides outstanding palliative care and support to patients and their families.

Myself, sister Samantha, dads grandsons Alfie and Oliver and granddaughter Violet will all be competing in Tough Mudder on the 27th of July (I fear this is not long enough away to transform from couch potato to athlete!), and will be running 18 miles between us.

Prostate cancer will affect one in eight men in the Uk. There are more than 140 cases of prostate cancer diagnosis every day. We are encouraging people to open up the conversation about their health and getting their health checked if they are concerned. More information can be found here: https://prostatecanceruk.org/prostate-information-and-support/risk-and-symptoms/about-prostate-cancer

We are really proud of our Dad, for the courage he has shown against adversity and for continuing to try to help others despite going through Chemotherapy and feeling unwell himself.

We are grateful for any contributions you can make and hope that we make it out with all limbs intact! Thank you in advance, and please make sure to spread awareness of cancer with your loved ones.

Em & Samantha ❤️
