Story

My lovely dad was unfortunately diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, an aggressive type of cancer, earlier this year - news which hit our family hard. He is currently going through chemotherapy and, having been an inspiration to me in my endeavours to become a runner, I have decided to run the Brighton Marathon 2025 to not only raise money for this fantastic charity, but to make my dad proud.

My dad has always been my biggest supporter when it comes to sport and fitness, so it’s important for me to raise money in a way that reflects this. He has always been a phenomenal runner, and has kept up his running throughout his chemotherapy, which is inspirational in itself. Whilst his body was going through hell after his chemotherapy sessions, he would be running alongside me at Parkrun, or during training sessions, completely selflessly encouraging me every step of the way. Even when his body felt tired and weak, he has shown true strength with his attitude towards everything. My dad’s positive attitude towards something so life changing has been incredible, he truly is my biggest inspiration, and I couldn’t be more proud of the strength and resilience he has shown throughout this year. The challenge of running a marathon will be one of the hardest things I could put my body through, but it will be a drop in the ocean compared to what my dad has been going through this year.

A cancer diagnosis is something that affects a whole family, and requires a lot of support to get through. Watching someone you love dearly go through the gruelling process that is cancer treatment is simply heartbreaking. Life is hard enough anyway!! It’s been incredibly tough on us all but we are fortunate enough to have a wonderful supportive network of people who are helping us through this as a family. Every day in the UK 55 people are given the life changing diagnosis of Lymphoma. With your help Lymphoma Action can give them vital information and emotional support when they need it most.

To complete this event, whilst raising money for Lymphoma Action, will undoubtedly be my proudest achievement. If you are able to donate to the cause I would be incredibly grateful for the support.

Thank you for helping make sure no-one faces Lymphoma alone and for supporting me and my family ❤️
