Story
As a young person who has been fortunate enough to be greatly supported through my education journey it feels immensely important to me to be able to provide even just a small amount of support for those who need it most. Education has been a central part of my life for the last 15 years and it breaks my heart that some people are unable to receive these experiences just because of underfunding particularly from the wider world.
By cycling from London to Paris, we are aiming to raise £4,500. This amount could transform the lives of so many young people in Kenya, Lesotho and Uganda through education. For example it could pay for:
👉 Vocational training for 4 young people living with a disability in Kenya, enabling them to learn skills such as carpentry or catering so they can set up their own business; or
👉 Nearly a year of school meals for 70 of the poorest children at a rural secondary school in Uganda. This enables them to focus in lessons, stay healthier, and increases school attendance as they are allowed by their parents to go to school rather than remain at home working manual labour - a meal at school is one mouth less to feed at home; or
👉 38 vulnerable children in Lesotho can attend High School for a year - empowering them to fulfil their potential, and with an education secure meaningful, well paid jobs that will help them escape poverty and create a better future for themselves
