Emily's TCS London Marathon 2025 for HDA

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
In April I am running the London Marathon in memory of my lovely Mum, Jayne, who sadly passed away on the 3rd of January after a heartbreaking battle with Huntingtons Disease.
When it’s dark, blowing a gale and pouring with rain I am putting on my head torch and getting each and every training run done… for Mum. I am also doing this to show my darling girls, Hebe and Anya, that we can all do hard things if we continue to show up and put the work in.
The past few years have been unbelievably difficult as I have watched Mum’s condition worsen and the twinkle in her eye start to fade. Mum taught us many life lessons but most of all she taught us to smile, be kind and to love life. Though she would likely think I am mad for running 26.2 miles, I know if she could have she would have been there cheering me on every step of the way, greeting me with her huge smile and a big finish line hug.
The Huntington’s Disease Association (HDA) are a small charity with branches across England and Wales offering help and support to families and friends of those affected by HD. Our family have received a vast amount of support from the Shropshire and Mid Wales branch of the HDA and if during this challenge I can raise funds to aid the branch continue their fantastic work that would mean the world.
