Mini-forest at Mary & John School · 20 November 2024

Protect Earth buys land, and works with existing land owners, to create woodlands, wetlands, and wildflower meadows. We also restore existing habitats, rejuvinate mismanaged woodlands, remove invasive species, and improve farm productivity with nature-based solutions.

Story

After a group of Y5 children requested to plant some trees, we came together with Protect Earth and have designed a mini-forest. Some kind corporate volunteers are going to help the children plant several hundred saplings on the 20th November.

The mini-forest will be at the far end of the playing field, and will have four different segments with wide paths in between the trees and a central area for children to gather and play in the shade during the summer.

Protect Earth have helped us get funding for most of the trees, but we are raising £1,500 to contribute 50p per sapling plus some additional funding for benches and signs. The school's PTA will also contribute some funds, and I will contribute some local priority fund as the local councillor.

Please help us raise some funds and plant lots of lovely trees for children in our local area!
