Story
I’m taking on a challenge that will push me physically and emotionally: swimming 21 miles in January – 1,352 lengths of the pool – the equivalent of swimming the English Channel.
I’m doing this for Breast Cancer Now, and I’m doing it in memory of Debs Ali.
Debs was someone incredibly special. She was strong, kind, and the sort of person who left a mark on everyone who knew her. This swim is my way of honouring her.
Every length I swim will be tough. There will be moments when my arms ache, my lungs burn, and quitting would be the easy option. But in those moments, I’ll think of Debs, of her strength, and of everyone who has faced breast cancer with courage and determination. That perspective makes every length count.
Breast Cancer Now funds life-saving research, supports those living with the disease, and works tirelessly so that fewer families have to experience the heartbreak of losing someone they love. If my swim can help, even in a small way, then every early morning and sore muscle will be worth it.
If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, it would mean more than I can put into words. You’ll be helping to fund vital research and support those affected today.
Thank you so much for reading, supporting, and being part of this journey 💕
