Emily's Great North Run for Breaking Barriers

Great North Run 2024 · 8 September 2024 ·
I'm running 13 miles for the wonderful Breaking Barriers, where I've been privileged and humbled to work for the past 5 years.
Refugees face unemployment levels four times the national average. Breaking Barriers supports refugees in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow into meaningful employment, offering 1:1 advice and guidance as well as English language and IT classes. We also work directly with businesses who offer paid work-placements and permanent job opportunities.
Breaking Barriers has supported over 2,700 refugees on their employment journeys, and I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with many of them and experiencing for myself their talents, dedication and determination to contribute to society. The need is greater than ever this year, and I'd be so grateful for your support of Breaking Barriers - it will make me train harder and run harder on the day! (And I need all the help I can get because as I type this, I just fell over in the mud so it's not going well so far).
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
