Emily's fundraiser for MS Society: London Marathon

2025 will be a milestone year for me. It will mark 10 years since I was diagnosed with MS and 5 years since I joined the Board of the MS Society - the UK’s biggest charitable funder of MS research. I’ve been so inspired by the community fighting to stop MS and support the 150,000 people who live with condition in the UK. I wanted to do something big to join the fight and help improve things for the next generation, particularly in honour of my daughter who I hope will grow up in a world free from the effects of MS.
I’m lucky to be able to access effective treatments that mean I am able live well. Alongside a team of family and friends, together we’re hoping to raise awareness and £10,000 funds over the next six months to support the next research breakthrough.
MS is a condition that affects your central nervous system, and there has never been a more exciting time in MS research. Researchers are working on three ways to slow or stop MS progression: preventing immune damage, promoting myelin repair and protecting nerves from damage.
My fundraising efforts start in September when I walk 20km at the MS Walk London. Alongside my Dad, I’m running my first half marathon in Richmond Park in December, the 16 mile Richmond Breakfast Run and Surrey Half Marathon in March and the London Marathon next April. I’m not a regular runner so it’s a mental and physical challenge for me as well a huge opportunity to raise awareness and funds.
Your support makes everything we do possible at the MS Society, and any donations will directly support further research into slowing and stopping MS progression. Together we can stop MS.
