In memory of Lucian Kelvin John Hurley

Sky Dive in Memory of my nephew Lucian Kelvin John Hurley 💙💛 · 10 May 2025

SCIPS was set up to support parents whose babies require neonatal intensive care services at The University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff. Money raised is used not only for vital life saving equipment, but also for the extra little touches, such as soft furnishings for the nurseries and parent areas, keepsake boxes, bereavement packs, first diaries and nursey fittings etc. Anything to make the parents and siblings stay on the unit a bit easier. We contribute to the Annual Remembrance Service for loved and lost babies. Volunteers help the charity to hold social events to bring families together throughout the year. This includes monthly coffee mornings, Easter Egg hunt, Teddy Bear’s picnic & Christmas party for parents to come together, share their experiences and offer support to one another. SCIPS also supports training and education needs of the staff on the unit.

On Saturday, 10th May 2025 I am taking part in a Sky Dive to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at the University Hospital of Wales, a cause very close to my heart.

This is in memory of my nephew, Lucian Kelvin John Hurley, who passed away on the 6th of May after 12 precious days we got to spend with him.

Lucian has a twin brother, Mateo. We can never forget the support shown to both of them during these challenging times.

Lucian’s short time with us had a profound impact on our family, and this Sky Dive is a way to honor his memory. It’s also a way to thank the wonderful staff at the unit who gave their all to help both Lucian and Mateo, as well as support my brother and sister-in-law, Jacob and Tiana, during an incredibly difficult period.

Your donations will go directly to the Special Care Baby Unit to support the exceptional care they provide to premature and critically ill babies and their families. Every penny counts, and your generosity will make a real difference.

On a personal note, I am turning 28 this year, and while I still face daily struggles due to being born with a brain injury, I just keep fighting. I wouldn’t be here today without the care and support of the Special Care Baby Unit, and I’m forever grateful for everything they did for me.

Thank you so much for your support!
