Paris Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·

Kokrobite is a fishing village to the west of Accra in Ghana. There is a lack of education here with most adults dependent on fishing for their livelihood. This is not reliable and does not guarantee an income. Many of the children in Kokrobite do not attend school due to the cost. We help fix this.

Story

On 7 April 2024, I will be running my first ever marathon (eeeeeeek!) to raise money for the Kokrobite Chiltern Centre (KCC).

Through my role as a Trustee, I see firsthand the difference KCC makes to the children and families of Kokrobite, a fishing community to the west of Accra in Ghana.

KCC enables local children to attend school and gain an education. KCC provides additional out-of-school learning support, Teacher Professional Development, resources for schools and community groups, and opportunities and facilities for arts, sports and other co-curricular activities. KCC has worked with international volunteers to introduce a solar-powered aquaponics system, has educated and empowered locals to build a desalination plant to secure clean water for the community, has built learning facilities using discarded plastic bottles, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, KCC made and supplied anti-bacterial handsanitiser. KCC's reach is truly endless.

I am aiming to raise £1,500. Any donation, big or small, would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!
