My son James was diagnosed with Autism in March 2023. He is also even now still none verbal. For a long time I felt alone in what it was like to want more than anything to be able to communicate with your child. To know what his thoughts are and how he’s feeling. To fully understand what Autism is and what it means for James. When I started going to STAND stay and play sessions everything changed. We got to meet children and parents, learn about their lives and their stories. A chance to meet people who understood. All the volunteers who run STAND are all incredibly welcoming, helpful and supportive all with their own stories themselves. It’s a place where James can be himself and be happy doing so. STAND is a cause that truly means a lot to us and couldn’t be where we are now without them. But they need Our Help to keep on going, get the word out and hopefully expand their ability to help more children the same way they have with my son.
