Memory Walk 2026
Campaign by Alzheimer's Society (RCN 296645)
Who will you walk for? This year thousands of people will feel it all and walk for everyone affected by dementia. It will take a society to beat dementia, and by taking on a Memory Walk, you are a part of it!

Story

As someone who carers for people with early signs of dementia/ Alzheimer’s to their last days it’s always hardest to watching family members see their loved ones died over and over.

Alzheimer's disease and other forms of Dementia gradually change how a person understands time, language, emotions, and daily life. But even when memories fade, emotions often remain strong. A person may forget a name, a date, or a conversation, yet still remember how someone made them feel.

One of the most important parts of caregiving is patience. The person is not being difficult on purpose. Their brain is processing the world differently. Repeating questions, confusion, frustration, or mood changes are often expressions of fear, uncertainty, or exhaustion. Responding with calmness instead of correction can preserve dignity and reduce anxiety.

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives.

We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future.
