Originally, I just signed up as a way to push myself beyond my usual plodding runs, but since then I've thought it could also be a way to raise money for a charity that's important to me and my family. For the last couple of years our family has been going through the difficult experience of a melanoma diagnosis and subsequent treatments. In many cases, if found early, melanoma can be treated pretty quickly, things haven't been so straightforward for us but we stay positive

Melanoma Focus is a national charity dedicated to providing help and support to melanoma patients and professionals as well as raising awareness of melanoma. They publish clinical guidelines on rare melanomas and provide funding to support research projects
