Move. Sweat. Give. Our Swiss Lakes Challenge for Skanda Vale Hospice

Emma Gill is raising money for Skanda Vale Hospice

Swiss Lakes Challenge · 12 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

Fifteen kilometres across a high Alpine plateau, past a dozen glacial lakes in every shade of turquoise, with 900 metres of ascent and the option to swim in water that’s about 5°C. All for a very good cause.

Story

Fifteen kilometres. A dozen turquoise lakes. Nine hundred metres of ascent. One very good reason.

This September we're taking on the Swiss Lakes Challenge for Skanda Vale Hospice, a sponsored mountain hike high above Davos on 12 September, threading between a dozen glacial lakes, over two passes above 2,700m, with a swim or two in 5°C water to push our sponsorship that little bit further. Every pound and every franc goes to the hospice.

But we didn't want to just ask, we wanted to give something back first.

Before we climb: Move. Sweat. Give.

Six days before we head for the Alps, on Sunday 6 September 2026, 1-5pm at Swansea University, we're hosting a feel-good fitness afternoon as our thank-you to everyone backing us. Four classes, back to back:

- 1:00pm: Zumba

- 2:00pm: Pilates

- 3:00pm: Strength (HIIT)

- 4:00pm: Yoga

Come for one class or stay for all four. It's just £20 to take part, and any amount more is hugely welcome. Whether you sweat it out with us in Swansea, sponsor the hike, or both, every penny lands in the same place: straight to Skanda Vale Hospice.

Why it matters

Skanda Vale Hospice, in the heart of West Wales, provides free, highly individualised palliative care to adults with life-limiting illness, and warm support for their families. Day hospice, overnight respite, a remote companion service: all given with time, dignity and compassion, and all completely free of charge. Every donation helps keep that care unhurried.

So move with us, sweat with us, and give what you can. Thank you, it genuinely makes a difference.
