Hello Everyone

I'm taking part in the November Knitting Challenge to support families facing dementia. Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity.

About Dementia UK

Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.

Why am I doing this...

I sadly had to witness an elderly cousin of mine, completely forget who I am. I will never forget that day when she came into my place of work came to me for help and then I ended up serving her. My cousin Beryl, told me she had no clue who I was and she ended up getting upset because she couldnt remember who I was. I ended up saying sorry and that I may of mistaken her for someone else. This actually left me quite upset too. My close family later discovered our Beryl had Dementia. She is now no longer with us.

A dear friend of mine (and my family), that has been a major part of my life as Frontotemporal Dementia. Something I had never heard off till she told us years ago. I have so many happy and wonderful memories of her. She has helped shaped who I am today. Recently I've been told she no longer recognise people she knows. Angel hugs Ali...

I'm also doing this for all my friends and the extended family who have or had love ones who have or had this horrid disease.
