Story

I'm raising money for Pilgrims Hospices by running the TCS London Marathon on Sunday 26th April 2026!

My name’s Emma, and I’ve been clean and sober for 10 months. 🙏

From the age of 19, I used drugs and alcohol to escape trauma. For nearly 30 years, I lived as a “functioning addict” — good job, long-term relationships, two amazing sons — but behind closed doors, I was struggling.

When I lost my husband Garry to cancer, my world fell apart. 💔

Grief swallowed me, and addiction took over completely. I didn’t care if I lived or died.

Then, in December 2024, I made the hardest and bravest decision of my life — to change.

I started swapping chaos for calm, chemicals for nature, and pain for peace.

Now, at almost 53, I’m doing something that terrifies me — I’ve signed up for the London Marathon 2026 😳🏃‍♀️

Every mile will be a reminder of how far I’ve come — a celebration of recovery, a tribute to the love I’ve lost, and proof that it’s never too late to start again.

I’m running to raise money for Pilgrims Hospices, who cared for both my Dad and my husband Garry with such compassion and dignity. 💙

If you can, please consider sponsoring me and supporting this incredible charity. Every donation helps them continue their amazing work for families like mine.

Here’s to resilience, recovery, and running towards hope. 🩵
