I am incredibly honoured to have been selected from many applicants to star alongside 23 other amazing women in this years Courage on Catwalk event run by Friends of Anchor. My cancer journey began back in Sep 2014 when not long after my 32nd birthday I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I fought my way through chemotherapy, then had surgery followed by radiotherapy and was found to be cancer free. Unfortunately last year, I got the news I’d always feared that the cancer had returned and I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer that had spread to my spine & pelvis. Devastated doesn’t come close, this was the year of my 40th and I had so much plans for celebrating. As most of you will understand there is no cure at present for secondary cancer, so my celebrations instead turned into making memories. The only positive from my diagnosis was that the areas it had spread to are treatable so I’m on a treatment plan that is ongoing and my scans have shown a great response to treatment. I have an amazing husband and two beautiful children that I will fight to be with for as long as possible.

Strutting my stuff on the catwalk is well out of my comfort zone but I hope I can raise some awareness and raise some funds for this wonderful charity whilst making new friends and having fun along the way!

Although I personally never had any of my treatments at the Anchor Unit I have family members who have so am delighted to help give something back.
