Story
On 6th November 22 trekkers and I will depart Manchester Airport for Dharamsala, India, to walk 52km through the foothills of the Himalayas.
During our 5 day trek, not only will we face daily ascents, some of over 4000ft (that's higher than Snowdon), we will be camping in tents, with no toilets and no way to wash my hair..... for 5 days.
So why are we doing it?
With six - eight hours walking everyday this will be a challenge to all of us on the trek. However, its only a small part of the challenges the patients and their families face, at Nightingale House Hospice, on a daily basis. We are raising vital funds for the hospice, so we can continue to offer free-of-charge palliative care to patients with life limiting illnesses across Wrexham, Flintshire and East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch.
Each day it costs £15351.00 to run the hospice, that's £5.6 million a year, of which we receive 18% from Government to support us, which is why we are trekking 52km in November to raise money so the hospice can continue providing love, care and support to our patients and their families.
