Emma's fundraiser for Rekindle Ail-ddeffro

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
In 2015, I lost a childhood friend to suicide. Leaving her partner, her dad, her friends and her little girl Vivienne who was 1 at the time.
This was a huge shock which shook us all and affected the town massively.
Amy, or Sheila as she was known was life and soul of every party. Her humour, pranks, smile and wicked laugh filled every room.
When you think of suicide, you think of depressed, sadness, anger but we have all learnt the hard way that mental health doesn't have a face and even the happiest of people suffer.
Myself, my friend Claire and Amy's dad Joe ran the first Newtown 10k for Amy. We had her picture put on the back of our tops for the run in her memory.
This charity appealed to me because not only is it for mental health but also for the mental health of young people supporting 16-25 year olds- Amy was 23 when she died.
I couldn't help or save Amy so if I can help at least ONE person by raising money for this charity, I would be very happy.
There is a very big Amy shaped hole in me and all that knew and loved her and being the 10 year anniversary of her death this year makes it even more special.
