Story
Imagine not being able to read ...
How do you shop, find a job, read medical letters, or simply read your children a bedtime story ...?
“Before Read Easy Southwark started helping me, I would start a book but as soon as I didn’t know a word I would put it down and give up. Now I keep going. I don’t give up.”
In fact there are 2.4 million adults in England alone – over 7% of the working age population – who can barely read or cannot read at all. Our goal is for all adults in Southwark to have the reading skills they need to fulfil their potential and live life to the full.
We offer FREE, one-to-one coaching to adults in Southwark who want to learn to read via our trained volunteer Reading Coaches and now have 25 coaches working across the borough. We want to increase this.
Please consider giving the gift of reading to adults this Christmas. Reading transforms lives... [Jeremy Bowen - BBC International Editor and Read Easy Ambassador]

Read Easy Southwark is a registered charity and is run completely by volunteers. Every year we must find up to £5,000 to support adults to learn to read.
