60 Years of Jim Hair - 3 Challenges for a Cause that Matter. · 26 June 2026

We offer free, UK-wide, accessible online grief support to children and young people (up to 25) who are bereaved or facing the death of someone important, and the parents and carers of babies and children who are dying or have died.

Story

2026 Marks 60 Years since a very special man graced the earth!!

Dad (Jim Hair) would of turned 60 years old in June of 2026 and what a celebration we would have given him - not that he would of necessarily thanked us for reminding him of how old he was.

Tragically dad was taken from us far too soon, at the age of 44 to Cancer.

To celebrate the Big Birthday and legacy whilst raising awareness & money for a charity very close to both James and myself heart. James & I have decided to take on not 1 but 3 challenges all within the space of 5 weeks.

1. Running Edinburgh Marathon on the 24th May.

2. Completing the 3 Peaks Challenge (Climbing Ben Nevis, Snowdon & Scafell Pike in 24 hours) on the 12th June.

3. Walking the West Highland Way ( 96 Miles from Milngavie to Fort William) on the 23rd -26th June.

A Very Special moment for us all will be finishing the West Highland Way on dads 60th Birthday - 26th June.

The Charity in question is Winston's Wish, which provides free Online Support to Children and young people (Under the age of 25) who have suffered bereavement. Charities such as this are few are far between and the support they provide is crucial.

Grief changes everything. When a child or young person loses someone they love — a parent, a sibling, a friend — their whole world is turned upside down. Every part of life is affected. And for far too many, the support they need simply isn’t accessible.

No child or young person should grieve alone.

Any donation regardless of amount would be greatly appreciated and help power us through this great challenge, and to support a very worthy charity to provide ongoing support wherever needed.

Thanks

Emma & James.
