Story
At the beginning of April, my Mam suffered a major stroke and has been left with life changing side effects meaning that, unfortunately, she’ll require round the clock care going forward
Over the last 6 weeks or so, my Mam has been cared for on the Stroke Unit (Ward 9) at Wansbeck hospital. The care and support that both my Mam and my family have received has been second to none. The staff there are so patient and compassionate, going above and beyond to make my Mam as comfortable and settled as possible.
In order to show my gratitude, and after almost 2 years out of the running game, I’m dusting off my trainers and taking part in the Great North Run in September to try and raise as much as possible for the Stroke Unit, and the wider NHS trust, so they can continue to help others in similar situations.
I’d be grateful if you can spare what you can and give to this amazing cause, which I know will provide me with the motivation needed to hit the pavement through training!
Thank you,
Emma x
