6 years ago when I joined Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust I promised our wonderful Specialist Bereavement Midwife, Sarah that I will find a way to create a safe, secluded, homely and much improved space for families who sadly experience baby loss.

Sensitively and compassionately crafted, yesterday we launched CHFT Charity's Maternity Bereavement Appeal.

We often coin the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child”, so my challenge to this, is how it takes a whole community to stand together and wrap their arms of support around families who sadly experience loss of their little one.

As part of my personal support for the appeal I am heading back to the north east and taking part in the Great North Run this Septembe.

Running is a huge part of my life, however it is a long time since I have ran close to a half marathon.

Here's to running 13.1 miles this September in support of the Maternity Bereavement Appeal.
