Story
I’m raising money because cancer has touched my life deeply — both personally and professionally. I’m an oncology nurse at the Royal Marsden Hospital, where I see the daily battles patients face. But it’s also personal: I lost both my aunt and my grandmother to cancer. And now, another beloved family member has recently been diagnosed and will soon begin treatment.
In 1980, Terry Fox began a marathon not just of miles, but of hope — a mission to end cancer. His journey inspired millions. Together, we can carry that legacy forward.
Terry Fox, a 22-year-old Canadian athlete who lost his leg to osteogenic sarcoma, made headlines in 1980 when he ran 3,339 miles over 143 days across Canada to raise awareness and money for cancer research. Since his death, thousands of Terry Fox Runs have been held each September in Canada and around the world, raising over £500 million for cancer research.
