Story
On 17 May, I’m running the Chester Half Marathon to raise money for the Countess of Chester Hospital Extra Mile Appeal.
This staff-led appeal funds additional ward equipment such as bladder scanners, ECG machines, blood pressure monitors and urinalysis machines - helping reduce delays, improve infection control, and give staff more time to care for their patients.
Each ward has its own wish list, and this appeal helps make a real, practical difference for patients and staff.
I’m also running for deeply personal reasons. The last year has been the hardest of my life, and exercise has been one of the main things that has carried me through; helping me find strength, clarity and resilience when everything else felt uncertain.
As I step into 2026, my 40th year, and a new chapter of my life, this run feels like a marker of moving forward and starting again.
If you’re able to donate, thank you so much for supporting both me and the amazing place I work 💙
