Story
When we first heard about Kairo's Duchenne diagnosis from his mum at work, we knew we wanted to join Kairo's Krew and raise some funds to support Kairo and his family, as well as contribute to funding research for this rare but devastating disease. We are running the Sheffield 10k at the end of September.
For some of us, donning a pair of trainers and running 10k will be a massive challenge, but this pales into insignificance compared to the challenges Kairo is facing.
Kairo's Krew supports Duchenne UK, a charity that has one clear aim: to end Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).
DMD is a devastating muscle-wasting disease. It is the most common and severe form of muscular dystrophy. Diagnosed in childhood, it mainly affects boys.
Started by families affected by the disease, Duchenne UK is the leading DMD charity in the UK: connecting the best researchers with industry, the NHS and families to advance and accelerate every stage of drug development.
