LONDON MARATHON FOR SOPHIE’S CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST (CNS)

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
On Sunday 27th April I will be running the London Marathon in memory of someone extremely special - Sophie.
I meet the lovely Sophie 5 years ago when she joined my outreach team along with her sister Diana. Her smile was infectious and she brought light to every room she entered through the sheer beauty of seeing the good in everything.
Her family have blessed me with the opportunity to remember her through fundraising for the amazing charity they have set up in her name. Please read their story below on the journey of Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist ♥️
* The inspiration for “Sophie’s Clinical Nurse Specialist” came from our daughter’s own sarcoma journey.
Sophie (Mathewson) was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in June 2019, at the age of 16.
Treatment started in July 2019 at the Cancer Centre in Belfast. Her Clinical Nurse Specialist, Susan, was our first point of contact and became an invaluable lifeline for us.
Sophie adored all the nurses that she came into contact with and they became her second family.
Sophie sadly passed away on 16 April 2021. She was a huge inspiration to us all. There can be no better tribute to her memory than providing a legacy through helping other families via this clinical nursing post.*
