Story
I am raising money for a charity that is incredibly close to my heart Autism Forward. By doing a Skydive on 7th September 2024...I know for many this is a bucket list challenge but for me IT IS NOT!!! I am terrified of heights and hate flying with a passion, for my friends and colleagues that have been unfortunate enough to fly with me.. YOU WILL KNOW!
But I wanted to choose something my son Ralphie could watch and think I am a super cool Mommy for doing.. so running and cycling would not have cut it for him!
When my son Ralphie was diagnosed with autism at 4 our worlds turned upside down, the dreams I had for my little boy changed. And instead of wondering what job he would do, if he would have children or get married, I prayed that he would be included, invited and accepted. That he would be supported and met with kindness. And most importantly that he would have the opportunity to find his passions in life and grow up to become his authentic self.
Autism Forward funds one-to-one specialist mentoring support to help young autistic adults who face a cliff edge of support once they leave school, to find and maintain paid or voluntary employment, fulfil their potential in life, find what they love to do and deal with issues such as anxiety, relationships, housing and personal stability. Over 80% of the autistic jobs seekers they have supported have found paid or voluntary employment and many have also joined social clubs or groups, accessed training and improved their self-confidence with the support of their specialist mentors.
My beautiful supportive brother has offered to jump with me, so if you are supporting him or me or autism forward together we thank you and really appreciate every single penny.
Thank you x
