Story
Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page! We are three Departmental Managers from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, based in Modern Languages, English and History - this is our second ramble as a trio, following our previous Big Walk on 24th June 2022. We’re hoping to beat our previous fundraising total of £520.
On Friday 28th June, we will be taking part in the Big Walk 2024 in support of Motor Neurone Disease (MND) research at the University of Sheffield.
MND is a terminal condition which currently has no cure. Those with the condition will lose the ability to walk, use their arms and hands, speak, eat and breathe, in no particular order. In most cases it is fatal. It is commonly regarded as a rare condition. But this isn't true. 1 in every 300 people, across all UK communities, will develop MND in their lifetime. MND kills six people in the UK every day, with a third of those diagnosed losing their lives within just a year. Tragically, people die from this devastating disease because there are currently no treatments that can stop it.
We'll be walking 32K from Redmires, dropping down through Hope Valley and Grindleford before starting our route back to the University Arms via the Sheffield Round Walk.
Any donations would be appreciated in order to help reach our fundraising goal!
Thanks so much,
Emma, Jenny and Elizabeth
