Emma Nicholls is raising money for King's College Hospital Charity

Walk to Addenbrooke’s and Transplant Fames · 31 July 2025

Welcome to Team King's where our amazing supporters are taking part in the British Transplant Games to support the King's Transplant community.

Story

Team Nicholls are off to our second Transplant Games and we cannot wait!

Myself and Teddy will be competing again this year, Teddy will be doing the Ball Throw, Bean Bag Archery, we will both doing the Obstacle Race. We will all be taking part in the Donor Run and of course one of the boy’s favourite the Tug of War and I’m pretty sure Theo will manage to find some football to take part in too!

We are really looking forward to being amongst our Transplant family again ❤️ This weekend is so special to all of us and can’t happen every year without all this amazing fundraising that the whole team do.

This year we have decided to take on a Marathon walk. Myself, Greg, Chris, Jack, Lauren, Dorrie and Chelsea are going to walk to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. We choose to do this because Addenbrooke’s is another hospital that Teddy has been under the care of, in his teeny tiny early days for a less than 24 hour stay and then another few trips through his 3 years. But most importantly we choose this as our end goal because Addenbrooke’s performed the very First Liver Transplant in 1968!! And as you all know we will do anything we can to raise as much awareness for Organ Donation which saves so many lives including our Teddy boy twice! In April 2022 he received the most special gift when he was only 10 weeks old after being born with an extremely rare liver disease Neonatal Hemochromatosis unfortunately meaning he went into liver failure at only a few days old. As he was so tiny for his first transplant we never knew how long this would last and sadly he was listed for another transplant almost a year and a half later. This time I was able to donate myself, which we all thought would last a little longer. But Teddy being Teddy has thrown another curve ball and decided to block to very important veins ultimately meaning my liver won’t last as long as we had hoped for him so unfortunately he is now waiting for a third time. We are hoping our brave little guy just keeps fighting on like he always has done until we get ‘The Call’ 💙 The biggest thank you as always to his incredible team at King’s

So please if you are able donate to an amazing cause which allows all these incredibly brave children and their families to take part in a truly remarkable weekend at The Transplant Games 👑💙
