Completing 100 miles run/walk/cycle for 5 months of the year · 1 January 2025

Through our trained volunteers and groups we support families from pregnancy to pre-school. Our families face a range of additional challenges in their parenting journey and our support means that parents are empowered to be the best they can be and give their children the best start in life.

Myself and Craig are taking up the 5 for 5 challenge to celebrate 5 years of Home-Start NW Gloucestershire.

We will be doing 100 miles each by running/walking and cycling for the first 5 months of 2025.

We are doing this to help fundraise for the amazing charity we both work for.

Please donate if you are able to so we can continue the fantastic work we do.

Here's what the money raised will go to.

Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire (HSNWG) aims to improve childhood outcomes through parenting support. Our work is undertaken in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury and the Forest of Dean, with particular emphasis on the areas of Hester's Way and Oakley in Cheltenham, Northway in Tewkesbury, and Lydney in the Forest of Dean.

In today's challenging landscape, many parents in England struggle to access essential early years services for their young children. Our work directly addresses this critical need, focusing on areas facing significant deprivation and providing crucial support to families with children under five years old.

The quote below is from a parent who has accessed services from Home-Start North and West Gloucestershire in 2024 and has been supported by a home visiting volunteer who provides tailored support in the family home.

“I always looked forward to my volunteer visiting as she is kind, understanding and supportive. She has given me lots of useful advice on issues relating to my children’s behaviour and offers me support on a regular basis. My volunteer also supported me with seeking support with my own mental health and I now feel more confident as a parent. I would be truly lost without the support I received from Home Start. It has made me who I am today. I recommend to anyone in need of support to reach out to Home Start.”
