Emma's Mental Elf Festive 5K Run For Mind

Emma Rees is raising money for Mind

Mental Elf 5K · 7 December 2025

We’re Mind, the mental health charity, working across England & Wales. We believe no one should face a mental health problem alone. We’re here for you. Whether you’re stressed, depressed or in crisis. We’ll listen, give support & advice, & fight your corner. Thanks for fundraising for national Mind.

Story

Hello and welcome to my JustGiving page where I have decided to raise some money for the fantastic Mind charity as World Mental Health Day 2025 is upon us, let’s pause and reflect 💚

Mental health isn’t just a conversation for one day — it’s a daily reality for millions. It’s the quiet battles, the invisible weight, the strength it takes to simply keep going. This year’s theme is “Mental Health is a Universal Human Right” a powerful reminder that care, compassion, and support should never be a privilege and that kindness is the key. For me, kindness is everything and I struggle being around people who not display the same kindness as I do. After all, it costs nothing to be kind! Just be kind. It really is that simple.

To the ones who get up every day with a heart full of chaos and still choose kindness. To those who carry storms behind their eyes but keep walking like the sun will rise. To the ones who feel misunderstood, overlooked, or dismissed - your fight is real, and your strength is loud even when your voice isn’t.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation.

You don’t need to look “okay” to be surviving. You are doing enough. You are enough. This world may not see your scars, but they’re proof you’ve survived every time it tried to break you so let's remember to think before we speak as we don't know what storms each person may be walking through or just how difficult they could be finding it to simply get through their day.

I have lost friends to Mental Health, I have battled with my own Mental Health, supported my children with their Mental Health and I have also been a shoulder for friends during times when they have been battling with their Mental Health. Mental Health is still looked on as a subject we can't talk about but it needn't be. We are all human and we all struggle from time to time so let's not be afraid to be open and talk about it.

Whether you’re thriving, surviving, or somewhere in between, your story matters. Your feelings are valid.

Let’s normalise:

• Checking in on friends without needing a reason.

• Saying “I’m not okay” without shame.

Did you know that in 2019, 970 million people worldwide were living with a mental disorder, with anxiety and depression being the most common.

Let’s make this October 10th not just a day of awareness, but a spark for change so please help support me in raising funds for Mind where I will be running a Festive 5K run on Sunday, 7th December as let’s not forget, Christmas is looming, where we all know, can be an incredibly lonely and sad time for so many people.

If you have any pennies you would like to donate, they would be hugely appreciated and let's remember to look deeper, listen closer and check in with compassion ✨️

Thank you so much for taking the time to read.

Love from,

Emma x
