Emma's fundraiser for Hope for Tomorrow

24hr triathlon · 17 May 2025
Jo was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024. and used the mobile chemo unit for her treatment.
Forest Vikings are a triathlon group, 8 of us (including Jo) are taking on a 24 hour triathlon at Bathhurst Pool in Lydney. Starting at 6am May 17th - 6am May 18th 2025.
This will consist of:
30 minute swim...and it will be cold, at approximately 12 degrees
90 minute cycle
1 hour run
Each person will do as many of these sets as possible in the 24 hours.
You are welcome to come on down and support us, watch us grimmace and make us laugh to make the challenge that bit more sufferable
NB: Here is a snippet of Jo's experience of using the mobile unit:
You never think this will happen to you....so when it does its a real shock. I was blessed with extremely fast care and treatment.
I used the mobile chemotherapy unit based in Cinderford and made such a difference to me, not just in the time I saved not having to travel to Cheltenham but the whole atmosphere was very different. The nurses are just as nice as in the hospital but the bus is small, intimate and relaxed making treatment a pleasure not a chore (if that makes sense). This service is amazing!! I am fundraising for this charity so others can benefit in the future just like I am now.
This charity have built these mobile units on donations from supporters. The Government provide no funding for this service, we need to raise funds so they can continue to provide chemotherapy treatment closer to home.
NB: info from the charity;
Cancer treatment causes sheer fatigue, it’s like someone has taken your batteries out. When you’re faced with a cancer diagnosis, time is crucial. How can people spend more time doing the things they love, with those they love, whilst still getting the life-saving treatment they need?
Hope for Tomorrow build and maintain mobile cancer care units, which change the lives of thousands of people suffering from cancer in England.
Will you help us drive cancer care forward? It might be you or your loved one sometime.
Thank you so much 💓 Every little helps 😘
