OSCAR's are running the Yorkshire Marathon/10-miler to raise money for children with brain tumours and their families. You can create your fundraising page here and find out how close we are to our target of £10,000 for the event on Oct 20th 2024

Story

OSCAR's Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity are taking on the Yorkshire Marathon/Yorkshire 10-Mile course to raise money to support children with brain tumours and their families, raise awareness of signs and symptoms of this terrible disease, and fund research into better and kinder treatments.

We will be running ten years after Oscar Hughes died of a brain tumour aged just 9. The charity that bears his name has helped so many other children in the same situation and the team taking on the run are doing so to help even more.

Last year I took part in the Yorkshire Marathon Relay to raise money for OSCAR's. This time i will be attempting to run 10 miles which is a huge challenge for me as I have never ran this far. The amazing work that OSCAR'S charity does is the inspiration I will need to get to the finish line!

We are joined in the team by a number of runners who are part of 'Roux's Army'. They are running for Hull youngster, Roux Owen, who was born with a brain tumour and lives with the after-effects. OSCAR's are very grateful to all the runners for their support and will continue to work with Roux's family for as long as they need us.
